As the soft pastel hues of dusk faded into the evening sky over Rutgers University's Livingston Lawn on April 10, hundreds of glowing lanterns and rows of white tents transformed the campus into a lively celebration of Taiwanese culture. Co-hosted by the Rutgers Taiwanese American Student Association and Nu Alpha Phi, the 23rd Annual TASA Night Market nourished the human spirit, fostered a sense of community, and inspired lasting cross-cultural appreciation.
The irresistible aromas of beloved Taiwanese night market favorites filled the air, drawing in students, families, alumni, and local residents. From crispy popcorn chicken and savory dumplings to refreshing bubble tea, attendees enjoyed authentic flavors alongside cultural exhibits, interactive games, and energetic student performances. Cherished traditions were beautifully blended with the creativity and enthusiasm of a new generation — a true testament that culture flourishes when young people are empowered to share it with others.
At the Senary Leaf Foundation (SLF), we believe that cultural wellness strengthens our sense of identity, while cultural understanding builds meaningful connections across communities. The Rutgers Taiwanese Night Market embodies this vision by creating a welcoming space where people of all backgrounds can experience, appreciate, and celebrate Taiwanese culture together.

That shared vision is why SLF has proudly sponsored this event for the past three consecutive years. Whether watching volunteers enthusiastically introduce their favorite Taiwanese foods or seeing college students experience these traditions for the very first time, we see that culture is most powerful when it is shared with joy!
As the lanterns gradually dimmed and the evening came to a close, we left inspired by the remarkable student leaders whose passion continues to build bridges of understanding and ensure that the rich cultural traditions remain vibrant for years to come.
