Our History

Cultural journeys inspire us.
The Senary Leaf Foundation was established in 2023 to honor the heritage and multicultural journey of the Yeh Family.
Mr. Tai Heng Yeh and Mrs. Yulin “Juling” Yeh emigrated from Taiwan to the United States in the 1970s. They raised two daughters, Ms. Ivy Yeh Cox and Ms. Irene Yeh, while running a successful business in the shoe manufacturing industry.
We thrived as a family and as individuals from our multicultural experiences — American, Taiwanese, Chinese along with all the other cultures we learned about from our friends, neighbors, classmates, colleagues and communities.
The Yeh Family wants to establish this foundation to give back to society by promoting cultural wellness and awareness — an important element in fostering social harmony.
Senary is an archaic word relating to the number six, similar to how binary is related to the number two. The family name Yeh 葉 means leaf. We named our non-profit Senary Leaf Foundation to represent Mr. & Mrs. Yeh, their two daughters, and their two grandchildren. Six 六 (lìu) is also an auspicious number in the Chinese and Taiwanese culture. 六六大順 (lìu lìu dà shùn) is a blessing that means "six six everything goes smoothly".
Our logo shows different types of leaves on a vine to symbolize our uniquesness as well as our shared values at the individual level as well as the community level. May we grow together in nurturing cultural wellness with harmony and joy.
