The Senary Leaf Foundation (SLF) hosted the Overseas Chinese Language Teacher Seminar at our River House from June 26 to 28, 2025. The event attracted the enthusiastic participation from many Chinese language teachers on the East Coast.
Guided by the Overseas Community Affairs Council (OCAC) and organized by the Association of New Jersey Chinese Schools (ANJCS), the seminar offered a diverse and practical curriculum aimed at enhancing the professional skills and cross-cultural teaching abilities of overseas Chinese language educators.
This year’s seminar featured two experienced instructors from National Taiwan Normal University—Associate Professor Chen Chia-Ling and Lecturer Wu Ting-Jen—both of whom brought a wealth of academic and hands-on teaching experience.
The courses covered a wide range of topics, including beginner-level Chinese language instruction, cross-cultural activity design, creative Chinese character teaching and practice, the role of AI in language classrooms, classroom management, and differentiated instruction. The program balanced theory and practice and received enthusiastic praise from all attendees.

ANJCS President Jessica Lee extended her sincere thanks to the instructors for their outstanding teaching. She also acknowledged the support and contributions of former ANJCS President Justine Hsieh and educator Wenlin Su, which helped ensure the event’s success.
Deputy Director Wang of the Culture Center of Taipei Economic and Cultural Office (TECO) in New York attended and delivered remarks during the workshop. She appreciated the teachers' passion, taking time out of their busy schedule to participate. She also thanked SLF for offering such a lovely, comfortable, and culturally rich venue.
I was honored to speak on behalf of SLF by welcoming the instructors from Taiwan and the participating teachers. I shared that our Foundation was established with the mission of giving back to the community by promoting cultural wellness. We truly appreciate the opportunity to support overseas education to share the language and culture from Taiwan.
I really enjoyed observing the seminar — experiencing the lively engagement and sense of excitement elicited by the two instructors. This event really energized the space at the River House as well as all the attendees!
